Warren Woods was organized in May, 1964 in fast-growing Warren, a Detroit suburb. Twenty-five members from three area churches formed the nucleus of this congregation. Pastor, Rev. James D. Mellish, arrived in August, 1964 and served the congregation for 35 years until his retirement in 1999.
The congregation flourished from the beginning. It experienced steady growth each year. Seventeen additional building programs followed the first building program, completed for Easter services in 1966. In 1974, additional pastoral staff was added, as needed, to facilitate both ministry expansion and development of new ministries for the growing congregation.
Tim Gocha came to serve as Senior Pastor in 2002. Currently, the church operates in two complexes in two locations on 13 Mile Road (Church and Christian School). Today, Warren Woods is experiencing unprecedented growth; life changing spiritual renewal; and is passionate in the mission to reach many more people with the Good News of Jesus Christ.
